Exhibition Of Voter Registration Exercise Begins September 10

The Electoral Commission (EC) has fixed Tuesday, 10th to Tuesday, 17th September, 2019 for the exhibition of the voters register.

The exercise will be at all polling stations throughout the country in accordance with Regulation 22 (1) of the Public Elections (Registration of voters) Regulations 2012, C. I. 72.

The exhibition will start at 7:00am and close at 6:00pm each day of the revision period, including Saturday and Sunday.

The exhibition is an opportunity for all registered voters, those who registered in 2012 to 2019 to go and check their names and particulars in the voters register.

The statement urged all electorates to ask for correction of wrong data as well as inclusion of names and particulars where names of people who genuinely registered have been omitted.

The exhibition is also an opportunity to clean the register by taking off the names of unqualified people, such as minors and non-citizens, from the register; as well as removing the names of dead people.

The Commission therefore appealed to the public to help clean the register by going to inspect it when it is put on display and object to the inclusion of the names of minors and non-citizens.

The EC also called on the public to volunteer information on dead relatives so that their names could be taken off the register.
