The postal officer in the Bibiani Anhwaiso Bekwai Municipality, Mr Jerome Quansah, has urged Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo and his NPP government to save Ghana Post from dying.
He said the government should revamp Ghana post to keep up with modern technological trends.
According to Mr Jerome Quansah, Ghana Post Company Limited has not collapsed, rather need the intervention of the Government of Ghana to save it from dying.
He said, the low patronage has brought many logistical and financial challenges to the company. However, he insisted that the Ghana Post is not a liability. “It is an asset which has not been appreciated yet. It is a gem but a gem in the rough.
"If it is polished it will shine and be a source of great revenue for the government, to be able to catch up with e-commerce and modern trends", he added.
Speaking to Bryt Fm reporter, Kwame Kontor Boateng, Mr Jerome said, Ghana Post in collaboration with the ministry of communication have introduced new and high level initiatives to improve postal services to customers at easy and affordable rates. This initiative is to revive Ghana Post, especially in the area of technology and innovation.
Mr Jerome Quansah further hinted that Ghana Post is revamping its services with heavy technology in the networking of all major post offices for effective counter services, adding that, these new systems and services will make parcels services convenient and easy to access.
"Today, we are doing other financial services like western union, cash post, ria, money transfers, results checking and university students pay fees through our system" he added.
