Winneba Zongo Youth Condemn Attack On Their MP

Zongo Youths in Winneba in the Effutu constituency have condemned the recent attack by some individuals on the personality of their Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Alexander Afenyo Markins.

According to the youth, the allegations levelled against the MP is that he has used a letterhead belonging to Chief Sulemana Salaga IV, Chief of Winneba Zongo to solicit for funds for his personal use. This they presume is false adding that the letter has rather helped develop the zongo since he took office but not for personal use.

Speaking to Bryt FM and Dadi FM News Correspondent Eric Owusu Amponsah in an interview, Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, Youth leader of the Muslim community in Winneba Zongo indicated that they have not authorised any individual to speak on behalf of the Winneba Zongo adding that the allegations against the Member of Parliament are absolutely false.

"We have not authorised anyone to speak on our behalf especially Farrakhan who is telling people that Afenyo Markin has used a letterhead belonging to the Zongo Chief to collect monies for himself," Alhaji Zubairu Kassim said.

"It is sad for someone who claims to be a Muslim and from Zongo to insult Afenyo Markin who has done so much for the Zongo communities in its entirety and who has so much believe in our faith," he lamented.

Zubairu Kassim indicated that the Zongo Chief Sulemana Salaga IV has also condemned the attacks.

"We the youth of Winneba Zongo have lived in peace with our elders and the Member of Parliament since time in memorial. May Allah forgives anyone for offending our faith by attacking the MP" he moaned.
