Relocation of "Corrupt Officials" To the Presidency Are over - Akufo-Addo

“Many of the actions taken by this Government in dealing with alleged acts of corruption, and much of the narrative I have outlined, were unheard off in times past. The days when the ‘punishment’ of erring public officials was their relocation to the Presidency are over", according to President Akufo-Addo.

Addressing the 2019 Conference of the Ghana Bar Association, in Takoradi, in the Western Region the President said where prosecutions are called for; they have been or will be initiated.

He added that the war against corruption will not be won overnight, but, with political will, it will be won.

Nana Akufo-Addo denied claims that he was shielding corrupt officials within his government.

He categorically denied the claims that he was shielding corrupt officials in his administration and stated that it was not his job to clear or convict appointees of corruption charges.

He said anyone with any corruption or corruption-related charges or accusations would be subjected to due process for them to clear themselves or otherwise.
