2019 National Farmers Day Slated For Ho
of Food and Agriculture together with its partners will mark 2019 edition of the national farmers day
celebration in Ho, the Volta Regional Capital.
The 35th celebration is under the theme: “Enhancing Small Scale Agriculture Towards Agribusiness Development" and the occasion would be used to award farmers and fisher folks who have worked tirelessly to contribute the growth of the Ghanaian economy.
National Farmers Day in Ghana is celebrated on the first Friday of December each year to recognise the contributions of farmers and fishers in the country.
Farmers Day was instituted in 1985 by the Ghana government after the industries showed a 30 percent growth in 1984.
H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is expected to deliver keynote address at the celebration and Farmers from the remaining 15 regions would participate in the celebration in December 5.
A 60-year-old farmer, James Obeng Boateng, from the Brong Ahafo region was adjudged the 2018 National Best Farmer at a ceremony held in the Northern regional capital, Tamale.
