Ghana Celebrates International Day of Older Persons in Legon Today
Centre for Ageing Studies, University of Ghana, Legon, is organising its annual
event for older persons entitled: International Day of Older Persons today, Tuesday,
1st October, 2019, at the Great Hall, University of Ghana, Legon.
This day is celebrated for older persons and senior citizens around the world to create awareness on the needs and challenges faced by the elderly.
This programme will bring together academics, stakeholders, NGO’s and the elderly members of the Ghanaian society to discuss the way forward and how we can promote a healthy and inclusive society for all ages. The theme for this year’s programme is “The Future We Want: What Older Persons Are Saying”.
The programme will comprise a health screening, counseling, dance and fitness and a talk on wellness.
In 2018, the MTN Foundation partnered the Ark Foundation to provide free health screening for older persons as part of its contribution towards the commemoration of International Aged Day.
