1,914 Students Placed In Asasco and St. Thomas under Free SHS
total of 1,914 Candidates who successfully passed 2019 Basic Education
Certificate Examination (BECE) have been posted to two secondary Schools in
Asamankese of the Eastern Region.
Asamankese senior High School, which use to admit about 600 Students before the introduction of free SHS policy is expected to admit 1200 Students under Gold and Green Track while Saint Thomas Senior High Technical School is also admitting 714 Students in 2019, compare to about 300 in 2016.
Despite increase in enrollment, this School still faces accommodation challenges.
Assistant headmaster in-Charge of Academics at Saint Thomas Senior High Technical School in an interview said a 12 unit classroom block which started in September 2016 and was expected to be completed in 2017 under the Ghana Education Trust Fund had not been officially handed over to the School by the contractor because the structure is not fully completed.
The School, which has over 2,000 Students, also lacks Dormitories, Dining hall and Assembly.
Meanwhile, Assistant Headmaster in charge of Domestic at Asamankese senior High School, Mr. Daniel Akonor has said the School lack Dormitory beds and mono desks in classrooms.
