Without any last minutes or unforeseen circumstances President Akufo-Addo today Friday, October 4, 2019, will officially confirm Mr. Oppong-Boanuh as the substantive new Inspector General of Police (IGP).
This confirmation of Mr. Oppong-Boanuh is after President Akufo-Addo submitted his name to the Council of State for consideration as substantive for the top Police job.
Mr. Oppong-Boanuh will have to be given a contract extension by the President as he turns 61 on October 8 and therefore due for retirement.
Until his appointment, Mr. Oppong-Buanuh was the Director-General of Administration at the Police headquarters.
Mr. Oppong-Boanuh has chalked some successes since taking up the acting IGP position appearing to have brought the matter concerning the missing Takoradi girls to a close.
He is also deemed a disciplinarian by a section of Ghanaians with his quick reaction to incidents regarding police misconduct.
Sources of information gathered by Joydaddymultimedia.com indicate that there are considerations to elevate Commissioner of Police (COP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno to the position of Deputy IGP.
