199 Persons Pick Nomination Forms For Assembly Election In West And Upper West Akyem

A total of 199 candidates have picked nomination forms on Monday,7th October 2019, after the Electoral Commission (EC) started accepting nominations from prospective candidates for election as members of District Assemblies and Unit Committees.

Out of the number, 105 picked forms in West Akyem Municipal to contest in 32 Electoral areas while 94 candidates also picked forms to contest in 26 electoral areas as at as at Monday.

Nomination forms in both Districts,which was about 700 for Unit committee members were picked by prospective candidates as at Monday, according to Mr.Kwadwo Debrah Gyamfi, West Akyem Electoral commissional who spoke with joydaddymultimedia reporter Kofi Atakora in an interview.

There will be no payment of filing fees and the nomination was part of a process leading to the District Assemblies and Unit Committee Elections, to be held on Tuesday, December, 17.

Prospective candidates would be expected to personally deliver or cause to be delivered on his/her behalf by the proposer or seconder of his/her nomination, the completed nomination forms to the Returning Officer (Special Duties) at a designated place in the Electoral Area or Unit.

The nomination forms for each candidate is suppose to be signed or marked by two registered voters, as proposer and seconder and supported by eighteen other registered voters in the District as assenting to the nominations of a candidate seeking election to a District Assembly and eight other registered voters in the District, for candidates seeking election to a Unit Committee.
