Assembly members in the Bibiani Ahwiaso Bekwai municipality have expressed
their displeasure in the ruling government over the reduction of their
Ex-Gratia by the Minister for Local Government and Rural Development Hajia
Following the announcement about the slashing of the ex-gratia entitlements to assembly members the Minister for Local Government and Rural Development Hajia Alima Mahama
According to them, the assembly has already agreed on a budget of Ghc4000 per each assembly member.
In furtherance, the minister for local government has issued directives that District assembly are to pay their members Ghc1000, Municipal Assembly are to pay members Ghc1500 and Metropolitans are to pay members GHC2000 respectively as their Ex-Gratia and the assembly members in the Bibiani Ahwiaso Bekwai municipality see it an insult to them.
Some members were particularly angry over reports they will get the aforesaid amount after their mandate.
“Is an insult to the said amount, how much do you take as a minister” they asked.
The members said the assembly work was a voluntary one, one that demanded sacrifice to serve their community and they have been performing their duties with their limited resources so they deserve better, hence the minister should resend her decision.
