After two years since the south-bound lane of the Aburi Mountains road in the Eastern region was opened to motorists is likely to experience it closure again by the Ghana Highways Authority (GHA) due to landslide on the section of the road today Friday, October 18, 2019, as a result of rainfall.
According to information lots of sand and rocks have fallen onto the road from Aburi to Accra stretch.
Traffic from Adenta towards Aburi has now been re-routed to the other side of the dual carriage road that also leads to Koforidua and the Akwapim area.
The Ghana Police Service has issued warning to all users of the Aburi to Accra road advising to drive carefully and obey diversion instructions of Police Officers on that stretch.
According to the Police, there is a landslide on a portion of the road between the Peduase Lodge and Ayi Mensah. Police, NADMO and the District Assembly together with others are working hard to restore traffic to normal flow on that stretch.
