Municipal Chief Executive for Yilo Krobo, Hon Ebenezer Kupualor has revealed
that the University of Environmental and Sustainable development located in
Somanya would be opened to use in January 2019.
According to the MCE, the first phase of infrastructure development which includes the construction of roads and streets, administration block, lecture halls, hostel, laboratory, Multi-Purpose Auditorium (includes Banking Hall, Cafeteria and Entertainment Centre) residential accommodation for senior management and waste treatment plant has been completed.
This came to light when the MCE Hon Ebenezer Kupualor observed the maiden edition of “meet the press series” on Monday. This program is following the Ministry of Information’s directive under the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo President of the Republic of Ghana’s Administration.
The directive is geared towards the promotion of development communication and information dissemination to the citizens to encourage people’s participation in local governance.
He said the University is expected to be opened in January with the admission of its first batch students who will be trained in various disciplines.
Also, the second phase of construction is going on in full gear. It is that when the University is fully geared, it will create about three thousand jobs made up of lecturers, administrators, researchers, Labourers, etc.
The second phase which is the GETFUND project at the University site includes, Laboratory, Administration Block and Auditorium are going on steadily.
