provision of government’s one million dollar per constituency program is
proving as a timely intervention for the Yilo Krobo Municipal Assembly in the
Eastern Region as various projects funded from the source are ongoing.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Ebenezer Tetteh Kupualor, who engaged the media in his first-ever meet the press at the assembly said, the Akuffo Addo led government has kept its promises to the Yilo Krobo Constituency as various projects funded from the one million dollar per constituency are ongoing.
According to him, per the assessment and priorities of the Municipality, it came to light that many of the SHS schools needed a proper place of convenience and water.
He indicated that three Institutional Toilets at Klo-Agogo SHS, Yikrosec, Somanya Presby Basic Schools have been built as well as three mechanized Solar Powered Boreholes at Tsosingua, Klo Begoro, and Akorwu Bana in 2017.
The MCE as part of the one million dollar per constituency, one district one warehouse at New Somanya and one market shed at Akutunya, Somanya have been implemented. He added that the rehabilitation of the Klo Agogo Market is ongoing together with the Yilo State KG Block.
Mr. Tetteh was of the view that the free SHS seems to be interesting in the area as day students are given one square meal a day in the afternoon which was not part of the old educational system. Another feature of the Free SHS is the Semester System (Double Track).
Below is the statistics on enrolment of the SHS and Free SHS since 2014/15 to date:
