New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate (PC) for Asuogyaman
constituency in the Eastern Region Mr. Paul Asare Ansah has donated 50 bags of
cement to Nyameben District Assembly (D/A) Basic School, near Akosombo.
The donation of the former Director-General of Ghana Ports and Harbors Authority (GPHA) who is now a Technical Adviser to the Ministry of Transport is to help construct a canteen and urinal for the school.
Mr. Paul Ansah who further doubles as the National Focal Person for Africa Union Transport Sector Projects in Ghana forms part of his contribution to improving the standard of education in the district.
Presenting the bags of cement to the school on his behalf Mr. David Sosu, the Asuogyaman Constituency Organizers of the NPP hinted that the gesture was in response to a request the Headmistress of the school Madam Victoria Awusi Gamma made at the commissioning of a building project barely a week ago.
According to the NPP PC improving the standard of education in Asuogyaman requires extra strategic interventions, hence his widow’s mite and contributions to drum home the strategy and actualization.
To this, former Director-General of Ghana Ports and Harbors Authority found it imperative to put his shoulders to the District Directorate of Education to plan and ensure that the district scores 100% in the B.E.C.E by 2020.
He continued that, his instrumental role and interventions help improved the BECE Exams from 67.3% pass in 2017 to 73.1% in 2018 as well as supporting education in the district in 2019 includes the provision of educational materials and support for primary and JHS schools.
Others are sponsorship for the B.E.C.E mock exams, extra classes for B.E.C.E candidates, prospectus sponsorship for B.E.C.E candidates who score aggregate 6-10, spelling and quiz competitions for primary and secondary schools, support for library projects, providing access to past questions and examiners' reports as well as support for speech and prize-giving day.
On her part, Madam Victoria Awusi Gamma who could not hide her joy praised Mr. Paul Ansah for responding swiftly to the request for assistance to build canteen and urinal for Nyameben D/A Basic School.
