West Akyem Municipal Chief Executive, Honourable Seth Oduro Boadu has said the
School Feeding Programme has been expanded in the area they have worked to
secure Ten (10) additional schools to augment the existing fifteen (15).
The Schools include: Akanteng Presby Primary School, Awaham Presby Primary School, Ekoso Presby A&B K.G and Primary School, Fordjour D/A Primary School, Kakoase Presby K.G & Primary School, Kobriso D/A Primary School, Onyafunso D/A Primary School, Topease Methodist K.G & Primary School, Pabi L/A Primary School and Nyadeaye/Breku D/A Primary School.
Speaking at the Meet the Press series, Honourable Seth Oduro Boadu said the programme is currently running effectively within the Municipality and he is working equally working to get all Schools hooked up to the programme as it has enhanced the enrolment of beneficiary schools.
Under the livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty Program, the MCE said "LEAP programme was initiated over 10 years ago under His Excellency President Agyekum Kuffour to gradually lift the
vulnerable and aged people out of abject poverty.
I wish to report that we have made payment of GH¢43,178.00 and GH¢43,324.00 for 578 and 580 Households respectively for the 53rd and 54th Payment Cycle since I assumed office.
The LEAP Programme is currently undergoing expansion to cover additional thirty (30) Communities and our officers are currently engaged in data collection and community sensitization in the new communities."
Speaking on Persons with Disabilities, Mr. Oduro Boadu said "We have continuously procured equipment and tools ranging from Sewing Machines (both Manual and Electronic), Hairdryers, refrigerators, Assorted Provisions, Plastic Chairs, shoe-making kits, Ice Chest, etc were presented to the PWDS for them to engage in business and economic ventures to feed themselves".
