650 Youth gets Job under Akufo-Addo Administration in West Akyem

A total of 650 Youth have been giving direct employment from 2017 to 2019 in the West Akyem Municipality of the Eastern region.

Out of the number 312 were engaged under the Nation Builders’ Corps (NABCO) program to curb the precarious unemployment situation which is gradually becoming a national security issue.

The breakdown of the NABCO beneficiaries are as follows: 1 REVENUE GHANA, 62, DIGITIZED GHANA 21, FEED GHANA 25, CIVIC GHANA 48, ENTERPRISE GHANA 21, EDUCATE GHANA 91 and HEAL GHANA 44.

Mr. Seth Oduro Boadu, Municipal chief Executive told the media at Meet the Press series that the President Akufo-Addo led administration succeeded in ensuring the recruitment of 266 people under Cocoa Boards Pruning and Pollination Programme.

The MCE said 11 people have been engaged as Forestry Guards whiles 54 of the youth have been recruited under the Youth Employment Agency for the Community Police Protection (CPP) module.

He added, Two (2)  youth have also been recruited under the Zeepay Programme and they have been provided with Mobile Communication and Financial Platform logistics such as GH¢300.00 E-Cash, GH¢200.00 Cash in Hand, Tables, Mobile Booth and Solar Lamp and Five (5) Agricultural Extension Agents have also been recruited under the Planting for Food and Jobs.

In a nutshell, Three Hundred and Thirty-Eight (338) of our youth have been giving direct employment since I assumed office.

Moreover, Mr. Oduro Boadu said over 300  youth have been engaged either directly or indirectly through the construction of the lockable stores and various projects and an estimated amount of GH₵3M has so far been injected into the local economy through the procurement of most building materials from Suppliers within the Municipality.
