1D1F: A Dam To Cost GhȻ2.5 Billion Old Cedis

The Minister for Special Development Initiative, Hon Hawa Koomson has revealed to Parliament that on average, a dam to be constructed under the One District, One Factory (1D1F) initiative ideal for villages and communities in the five Northern Regions will cost GHȻ250,000.00.

The minister made this revelation when Albert Akuka (Member of Parliament for Garu) asked her to give the estimated cost for the initiative for poverty Eradication program in the five Northern Regions.

Hon. Koomson said, in 2018 the Ministry in collaboration with Ghana Irrigation Development Authority, the Northern Development Authority, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies in the Northern Regions have identified 560 sites for the construction of Small Earth Dams in the country’s northern part.

This according to her means that each constituency in the Northern parts of the country is allocated with 10 Small Earth Dams.

Mrs Hawa Koomson indicated that, though the five Northern Region would be given 10 small earth dams each, the dams would vary based on its unique topography and design.
