Bryt FM’s Central Regional corresponded, Eric Owusu Amponsah narrating the scene said; the Mercedes Sprinter carrying 27 passengers was heading from Accra to Winneba while the cargo bus was heading in the opposite direction.
The old Mercedes old Benz cargo bus who was trying to swerve some cars after trying an overtaking could not hold to his speed hence colliding into the sprinter bus who tried to give him way by veering off the road got smashed into landing 12 out of the 27 passengers onboard to the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital.
The injured passengers are responding to treatment with no record of death as at the time the report is being made.
However, an interview with the Winneba MTTD Police Commander, DSP Charles Obiri said, the Mercedes cargo bus was coming from Takoradi heading to Accra. The driver who is the only the person in the bus along with his goods could not complete his overtaken actions and ended up colliding with the sprinter.
DSP Charles Obiri has sent words of advice to drivers to be careful as Christmas is approaching.
“They are in a hurry to make it before Christmas but they should be careful with the over speeding. The police with the help from DVLA and other stakeholders would be hitting the road soon to take the drivers through with some road safety teachings in order to reduce the rate at which accidents are rising in the last quarter of the year.
