Ending Black Stars AFCON Drought Is Work In Progress

Black Stars assistant coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor has insisted that ending the Black Stars Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) trophy drought is a work in progress.

The Black Stars failed to end the country's 37 years trophy drought in this year's AFCON and will have to wait until 2021 if they are to end it.

Akonnor was of the view that the Black Stars can end the continental trophy if only they prepare and build a formidable side in subsequent tournaments.

Asked if the team can end the AFCON trophy drought in 2021, he said, "Its a work in progress, I guess we need to start now and build towards a successful future, and we shall be there" Akonnor replied to Sylvester Ntim of Bryt FM on a question asked him on his official twitter page.

He took over from Ibrahim Tanko last week as the Black Stars new deputy coach on a temporal basis.
