Akuse Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a Jamaican Rastafarian who has
been arrested at Okwenya in the Manya Krobo municipality of the Eastern Region
for allegedly defiling four (4) young girls on Thursday.
The Akuse Police Commander, ASP Anthony Asare, speaking to Somanya based radio station, Rite FM admitted the arrest of the Jamaican national as a result of a complaint by the Community Watch Dog Committee after three (3) of the alleged victims reported the matter last week.
According to ACP Asare, the suspect, in his early 50’s, has denied having any sexual intercourse with the three victims who reported the matter, but rather mentioned the name of another 14-year old young girl, who is yet to be identified as his prey.
“The Jamaican has denied defiling the three young girls, who are between 11-13 years but rather, mentioned the name of another young girl whom we are yet to identified, but I have asked the committee to bring the three victims to my office for proper identification” the Police Commander narrated.
Meanwhile, the Police Commander also confirmed that there is a hospital report indicating that all the three victims have been defiled but his outfit is yet to confirm it today as it awaits the arrival of all the alleged for (4) suspects on Friday.
ACP Anthony Asare added, the suspect would be arraigned before court after meeting the victims today to seek for more time to investigate the matter.
Even though the Police Commander refused to reveal the name of the suspect, Bryt FM checks indicate he is affectionately called Tony Rasta as he carries dreadlocks on his head.
Sources also indicate that the accused has been living in the area since 2005 and lures his victims with guava fruit as he has a tree planted at his residence.
