U23 AFCON: Black Meteors Take On Cameroon In Group Opener

Ghana's Black Meteors and Cameroon square at the Cairo International Stadium on Friday evening.

The two sides will fax each other in the second Group A match at 8 pm (8 pm GMT).

Coach Ibrahim Tanko insists that the absence of domestic football will not affect his charges performance in the tournament as they hope to secure qualification to Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

The last time the two sides met was un 2011 All Africa Games where Ghana beat Cameroon 1-0 and went on to win the competition.

Ghana will face host country Egypt in the second group match before playing against Mali in the final match of the group.

The best two teams from each group will progress to the semifinals where the winner and two runner ups will secure tickets to represent Africa at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.
