Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Oti Akenteng says he is hoping
Egypt does Ghana a favour in the final group match of the ongoing U23 Africa
Cup of Nations.
His comments come on the back of Ghana's 3-2 defeat to hosts Egypt on Monday at the Cairo International Stadium.
The defeat in the second group game puts Ghana's qualification on the brink as they will need to win their last game against Mali and hope for a favorable result in the game between Egypt and Cameroon.
Asked if Ghana's ambition of qualifying to the Olympic Games is over, he said, "No, let me do a bit arithmetic because anything can happen in football. We can score Mali and if Egypt can beat Cameroon we qualify" he said.
"We should not lose hope. The Malians have been dominant over us of late and it will be a plus for us to end their reign" he added.
He expressed that, it will be a sad moment for the country should we refuse to bring something better home.
Ghana's Black Meteors will take on Mali on Thursday, November 14 in the final group match.
