Residents of Akawani, a
community in the Kwaebibrim District of the Eastern Region have complained
bitterly over the high standard of living in recent times.
According to them, prices of goods have increased drastically over the past year affecting the livelihood of the people.
They complained about the increase in electricity and other utility tariffs which in effect, affects individual businesses.
Some market women who also spoke to Bryt FM's reporter indicated that, patronage of goods has dropped drastically as a result of the current economic hardships.
Also, they lamented about the deplorable state of roads in the area, which according to them, have derailed business activities in the area as farmers even finds it difficult to transport farm produce to market centres.
Residents are, therefore, appealing to the government and appropriate authorities to transformation of the economy to make life better for the people.
