Management and leadership of the Seventh Day Adventist Hospital (SDA) in Koforidua of the Eastern Region has today, November 14, 2019, inaugurated a new edifice worth GHc1.8 million to enhance patients with access to quality healthcare in the hospital.
The leadership of the hospital purchased the block from the All Nations University with a whooping amount of GHc1.8 million where GHc600,000 was a splash in its renovation.
The facility will house, the male and female ward, a psychiatric unit, administration and pharmacy and also providing beds for patients while they receive treatment.
The Eastern Regional Minister, Eric Kwakye Daffuor, who graced the occasion could hide his affections for the SDA church for their support in ensuring that quality healthcare is enhanced in the country.
“I will continue to thank the leadership of the SDA Church for their enormous support. We have all seen the number of hospitals constructed by this noble church. The SDA church is an important partner in the development of this country” he emphasized.
He urged the church not to rescind from their development agenda and has therefore assured them of government support whenever the need arises.
At the inauguration, the hospital director, Dr Daniel Faakye said the need for expansion was urgent and for that matter, the hospital board and SDA Church East Ghana Conference together with all well-wishers led by the hospital board chairman Pastor S.B Arloo secured a loan from Heritage fund to purchase the two-storey building.
“With this new block, the hospital bed capacity has increased from 45 to 68 with the potential to hit the maximum of 100 beds. In the past, when space was limited and funding not so easy to come by, the hospital was still able to deliver quality healthcare” he said.
He acknowledged the effort of hospital management, board members, members of the project committee for their unflinching support in expanding the facility.
Dr Faakye then called on his people and patients to use the facility wisely so it can be used for a longer period of time.
Additionally, he outlined some equipment’s needed by the hospital to enhance their services as patient monitor, theatre lamp, theatre bed, ambulance, autocrat machine and beds and has called on corporate bodies to come to their aid.
The President of SDA church East Ghana Conference, Dr S.B Arloo on his part said, “We are ready to collaborate with the government to provide quality healthcare for citizens. We will continue to serve mother Ghana in our bid to make the country great” he stated.
He commended the government for the provision of adequate nurses of about 600 to boost their activities.
