Minister of Energy, John Peter Amewu is currently in an emergency crunch meeting with security agencies and other stakeholders at Hohoe in the Volta region.
Sources available to joydaddymultimedia indicated that the meeting is in connection with recent insecurity happenings in the constituency.
A member of the Hohoe Okada Riders Association, Mr Agbodo Christian was recently attacked leaving him with machete wounds over his body and his motorbike was taken away creating fear and panic.
The minister wrote on his Facebook page in a post below:
SAFETY AND SECURITY WITHIN HOHOE CONSTITUENCY. 15th November.
There is an ongoing engagement between my office and key stakeholders including the Ghana Police and ECG to discuss and resolve recent safety issues in Hohoe.
I have taken interest in the recent case involving a member of the Hohoe Okada Riders Association, Mr. Agbodo Christian, who was attacked leaving him with machete wounds. He sustained injuries all over his body and his motorbike were taken away.
This is unacceptable and we need to make sure that the perpetrators are brought to book.
As soon as the incident was brought to my attention, I quickly took steps to assist his family to provide the best healthcare for him. My office arranged for an ambulance that came from Ho to convey him from Hohoe to the Trafalgar hospital in Ho where he had been referred for treatment. My office also ensured his bills and other costs associated with his treatment were taken care of during his stay at the Trafalgar hospital.
I am glad to announce that he is well now and has been discharged to go home. He has been registered with the now vibrant national health insurance scheme to help him pay for his regular check-ups at the hospital.
There's a lot that can be achieved when we work together as one people and care for one another. Personally, I am keen on ensuring the absolute safety of all members of the constituency.
I, therefore, urge everyone to be alert and practice some level of personal safety principles at all times especially in the evenings.
Beyond Police night-time patrols, I have also facilitated for streetlights to be installed at the area where the attack happened. This will help prevent such attacks in future.
I promise to do my part in ensuring that under the able leadership of His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Ghana would see massive intervention in lightning at night and Hohoe would not surely be left out.
