New Juaben Traditional Council leader, Daasebre Oti Boateng has classified
policies towards sustaining his award-winning Root-based Sustainable
He stated that a community Economic Development and Investment (CEDI) trust has been established for each of the 12 communities which constitute the traditional area.
He made these remarks at the 1st Pan-African Traditional Area Development Day (TADD) in the New Juaben traditional area to set the basis for the adoption and implementation of the award-winning 1st Pan-African Development Model ( The Root-Based Model).
The Traditional ruler of New Juaben traditional area added that The Root-based development model ultimately is to serve as the basis for a new community development order in Ghana, Africa, and regions of Growing economies.
He indicated that it is a homegrown model that seeks to empower community development beyond aid to attain self-security, self-reliance, self-determination, and self-sufficiency.
He mentioned that Ghanaian communities will have progressively functional development orientation for continuous mass mobilization of resources by citizens, traditional leaders and the community towards investment and community development under the implementation of the Root-based model.
The Daasebre believed that with a functional community development replicated in all traditional areas in Ghana and Communities therein, poverty, insecurity, risky migration, insurgency, and inequalities are expected to be reduced significantly.
The Vice President of the country, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, who graced the event, said that the institution of the new Juaben traditional area Root-based development model will serve as an interface between traditional festivals and traditional areas.
The Vice President stated that the initiative will help in two important ways by providing a platform for stock-taking of community development programs, the role of traditional authorities and chiefs in the country and also to set targets in efforts to build up commitments for Sustainable community.
"I hope that this initiative will serve as a turning point for our traditional areas to partner government and the private sector in local level development," he said.
He added that the introduction of the citizen sector as the principal anchor of the root based economic and community development module is the viable root to the mobilizing and harmonizing the collective strengths for local development.
He emphasized that when the root based development module is adopted in other traditional areas would complement government effort towards significantly reducing poverty, insecurity, risky migration and inequality in Ghana and to larger extents Africa.
According to him, the central government alone cannot meet the competing demands of Ghanaians as timely as everyone will want and for that matter, encouraging traditional rulers to adopt the root based economic development module.
"The root based economic development module is what African governments need to complement their effort in the areas of social and economic development. For us in Ghana, the root-based economic development module is timely, it fits into the vision of Ghana Beyond Aid" he stated.
He then conveyed appreciation of the government to Daasebre Oti Boateng and his root based economic development team for leading this innovative idea in Ghana and Pan nearing a module that has prospects of setting Ghana apart in African development.
He said it is a commendable effort which when successful will no doubt contribute to the fortunes of Ghana and Africa in general.
