Government Pledges Support To Akropong School for the Blind

The government has emphasized its commitment to ensuring the Akropong School for the Blind get the necessary projects it deserves through the Municipal Assembly.

Speaking at the official launching of 75th Anniversary of Akropong School for the Blind and Commissioning of Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) ICT Centre for the School in the Akuapem North Municipal of the Eastern Region, the Deputy Eastern Regional minister indicated, government would do it's best to support the school.

Mr. Samuel Nuertey Aryetey, added, the inner campus roads of the facility have already been awarded on contract to be asphalted and therefore, the contractor would soon start work on the project.


The 75th Anniversary, which would be celebrated next year 2020 is under the theme: "Quality Education for the Visually Impaired-75 years in Retrospect".

"It is heartwarming to know that more products of the school are serving in various capacities and contributing their quota to the development of this Country. Indeed, disability is not inability".

"I assured them of Government continuous support and also indicated that more projects through the Akuapem North Municipal Assembly headed by Mr. Dennis Aboagye will hit the school very soon to enhance effective teaching and learning" Mr. Aryertey stated.


According to him, besides, the rehabilitation of the inner campus roads which would be asphalted has also been awarded and the contractor is mobilizing to come to the site very soon.

He narrated: "With the help of GIFEC, the school now has an ICT center to bridge the digital gap between the served and unserved/underserved".
